I built a homemade charcoal basket yesterday for my Gator offset because I wanted to try the Minion Method. I loaded the basket with 18 pounds of HEB charcoal, fired it up and got a good long burn with the intake cracked about 1/16". Today(conditions are identical) went through the same procedure with Kingsford charcoal and with the vent 100% open, I can just barely keep the pit at 225 degrees. Has anyone experienced this temp differential with briquettes ??
