Not sure if this is the right place for this, but thought it might be related.

Found a site for vacuum sealer bags to put that left over meat in. The bags seem pretty reasonable. Haven't ordered any since I just got my vacuum sealer w/2 rolls. The site is dougcare.com and the micro-layered pouches will fit the channel type sealers like vacupack, foodsaver, etc. 8X12 pouches are 21 cents each, for an example.

JJ,

What sealer did you end up with? :?

I bought a VacUpack from EBAY. They sell them for 279 for a new one, but they have demo units, refurbished, etc. starting at a bid of 149. One of the main reasons was that this brand can actually get some liquid into the pump and still not harm it. In fact you clean out the pump with water if other liquids get sucked up. You can usually get one for the starting bid.

I only tried it out once so far on some sausage seasoning and it made a solid brick out of it, like those bricks of coffee. I have a couple of the cheap sealers and they don't work very well, or very long, so bit the bullit and hopefully got a good one. It came with a 5 year warranty so maybe that means something.

I use my vacuum sealer if I have any meat left over. It makes the meat taste just as good as when it came off the pit. I really like to use them for camping. I seal the brisket up and drop it into the cooler, ice and all, and it stays cold and dry.

Yum, Yum, I sure am getting hungry.
