I read something somewhere about putting some wood chips in a gas grill to "smoke flavor" meat some.
I have a 2 burner (?) Char-Broil.
Any body got any ideas about this ?
Any comments would be appreciated.

Go to Wally World or Meijer and pick up a metal smoker box. It is about 6 inches long and about 2 inches wide. You can then soak wood chips in water overnight and put them in the box. Put the box on top of the grates and smoke away.
Same rules apply and use indirect heating. Turn one side on low and the other side off. Put the meat on the side that is off. On my Weber gas I always figured you could turn the front burner on and put the meat on the back side on top of the warming rack to even get more indirect heating.

You can do this without any fancy smoker boxes. What I do is soak my wood chips in water for 30 minutes to an hour, then drain the water.
Place a handful of the wood chips onto a piece of aluminum foil and fold the foil over top and form a pouch. Seal well, then poke a fork through to vent 2 or 3 times:-)
Place pouch under your grate on top of the lava rocks. Turn on high heat until you see the smoke, then turn to whatever heat you like/need for cooking.

There is a guy around Houston that makes and sells Larry's Bag of Wood. Several flavors and supposively works great in gas grills. Soak the bag for one minute and then put in gas grill. Seen his stuff in local stores around here. Don't know what it goes for $ but it can't be much.
