I have my Klose pit out in the elements and it is too heavy to move back and forth. I am trying to figure out if I should get some kind of cover for it or not. What do you think ?

I'm fighting the same question with my homebuilt trailer smoker. Right now I cover it with a couple of blue tarps but that is cumbersome and not the best plan. I am thinking about having a custom heavy convas tarp made. There is a place in Paul's Valley, OK that can make anything custom out of heavy canvas. the link is http://www.edwardscanvas.com/
if that helps.

thanks

I found someone that can make a custom cover for me, but I am wondering

1) if i need to cover it and

2) if I use a breathable canvas, does it do any good. Seems like it would still get wet when it rains.

It wouldn't hurt . It certainly will not keep it from rusting over time, but it will keep the birds from "making designs" on it! W

1,000,000 points wins you a Rock's Catering Rig fully loaded . I am the sole dispenser of points, and judge. I reserve the right to change the rules at my discretion and terminate the game at any point I so desire.

800,000 points for the person who can tell me who is on the $500.00 bill (American ) what was his reason for this honor? (his fame?)

Grumpy Gator

That would be William McKinley, the 25th Pres. I'm not aware of the reason why he was picked.

I believe that it is someone else. I will research it and admit if I am wrong-W

ps, actually, I believe that Mckinley (from Ohio) is on a mountain! The guy I'm thinking of is also from Ohio though. W

Grumpy Gator

Hmmm... McKinley isn't ON a mountain, but there is a Mt. McKinley in Alaska, N. America's highest Mt.

There are 4 presidents on Mt. Rushmore, Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt, but I don't think McKinley is on a mountain.

That reminds me of a girlfriend I once had who thought the Presidents on Mt. Rushmore was a natural phenomenon...

BBQ F , you are correct!! It was a trick question. I said "Who is on the $500 Bill". I clearly implied "who is on the $10,000 bill!!! (Or, was, as they are no longer in circulation.

- 25 points to you for embarrasing the Judge by being correct! Sorry, them;s the rules!"   Woody

That would be Salmon P. Chase, the Treasury Secretary under Abraham Lincoln. Chase is one of only 2 Non-Presidents to be on US Paper Currency. Who is the other?

In 1861, faced with the sudden need to raise large amounts of money Congress authorized the government to print currency -- something only private banks had done following the end of the Continental notes.

Now, back then, governments didn't have the same compunctions about only honoring dead people on currency and stamps, so Chase had his own picture engraved on a variety of bills, including the $1 note. His other innovation was to have the backs of the notes printed with green ink -- hence, "greenbacks'' (up to that point, not many bills had anything printed on their backs).

In 1914, when the Federal Reserve system was started and new bills had to be issued, the Powers that Be decided that the place of honor on the nation's highest denomination note (Then $10,000) would go not to some president but to Salmon Chase, who introduced the modern system of banknotes.

You mean it's not? There was a guy ,in Wyoming I think, who has been working on a similar thing, but honoring Crazy Horse. I think he died though. I cannot remember how far along the project was though. W
