The last newsletter had the recipe I follow to smoke a turkey. Now some will say to brine the bird for 24 hours and alot has been said here on the forum about smoking a turkey.
Personally I do not brine a turkey. Just coat the bird with Italian dressing and Texas BBQ Rub put in a Reynolds Turkey Cooking bag. Add some bell pepper, onion, and celery to the cavity and let the bird cook. They always come out moist and tender and great taste. If you want to inject the bird you can before cooking. Butter or a mixture of butter and spices cooked on the stove then shot into the bird for some internal spice taste.
Welcome to the club Smokin T. Hope this one helps you out.

Teri, Bills advice is right on the money! I always inject mine with a mixture of apple juice and honey, but that is totally up to you. I put mine on the smoker for about 2 hrs at at about 200-225, then wray it up or put in a foil bag with some apple juice and let her cook.....hope this helps

this brings up another question. seems most people brine, spray, foil with apple juice. has worked good for me as well, but what about other juices? like cranberry or grape? anyone tried that with good results? :o

wonderin if i should foil "the product" with, say some more prune juice and let it rest for awhile; say 30-40 days in a warm cooler? :?
what about serving suggestions; portions, sides. i know woody likes coleslaw on top on a white bun. :D
hey!! do you smell something pungent over at woody's? slight hint of prunes? be afraid, be very afraid :!:
ok. gotta run to costco and see if i can stock up on some "items" see ya all later :P

What's this? I go out to run a few errands and I'm on everybody's "****-list?"  :lol:Believe it or not, prunes are actually an integral part of Mole Negro!
