8) One of my Managers at work who has not tried my Texas Red has issued a challenge to me. Tonight at our Christmas party at work we are going toe to toe or should I say Bowl to Bowl. I told him no problem and wished him luck. Then my co-workers started to laugh as he walked away. You see they have tried my Chili and now he is going to have run for his money. Just a gentleman's bet no money no beer just bragging rights.      I will also be honest if his Chili beats mine I will let you all know.

He came to me today and said he was sorry. He said his father called and said he got tickets to the Redskins game. I will believe his story only because my father passed away 3 year's ago and I would give my pit away to charity for just 5 minutes more with my Dad. With that being said I will never trust this person again. Challenge me again and your answer will be you had your chance.

Nah, make him eat the stuff my mother-in-law calls chili. It may have started out as chili, but it has beans and corn in it. I told her that once you put in beans and corn, it becomes stew, NOT chili.
THE RULES:
No Beans
No Chocolate
No Cinnamon
No Corn (!)
It should burn you twice.
Woodboxer,
I never saw this side of you at Q-fest!

Say what you will, it's better with beans and chocolate. I've tried and tried to see it from the Tejas perspective, but I stand by what I just said! Plain meat and chiles is BORING!!!!!!!! Woodbean

Rite on Woodchili !. If it doesn't have beans, it's sole use is on hamburgers and hotdogs. That's why it's called chili, Tejas Chili Beans is what the can says. :D

Hello every one! Well here goes I have always had chili with beans that’s because that’s the way I have always fixed it, I use ground beef, sausage, tomatoes, beans before I can pass judgment on this issue I will need to try it without beans if some one can give me a good recipe for there Texas red I will try it and let you know what I prefer.

I guess I could try the chili/stew without beans but being called a yankee now that really hurts(LOL).
I gotta say a little cocoa powder(it is a spice isn't it?) in my chili(sorry stew) has gotten rave reviews from all that have eaten it. I'm with BigJT lets get a good Texas Red recipe so we can at least give it a shot.
There are over 4,000 different varieties of beans / it's either “Chili” = NO BEANS or / bean soup /
Chili with beans and crap in it is just crap ....

Try putting a disc or two of Mexican Chocolate. I use Ibarra. Nestles makes a version as do several others. Go to a Mexican Market to get it. It is WAY better. It contains nutmeg and cinnamon. Really, good stuff. I love this debate. Woodyguy

It also makes great hot chocolate, which is what they mostly use it for. They mix it with milk and whip it with this propeller like thing until it's real frothy. I forget what it's called. I'm sure somebody here knows. Woody
How about "Whipped Hot Chocolate"!
Chocolate in Chili =
They did not have chocolate on the trail where chili was born / Texas Chili does not have chocolate in it;
For you that want a good bowl of Texas Red & don't want to go through the process of making your own mix.
Try /
http://www.texaschilispice.com/product.htm
it makes a good bowl of chili / or a mix to Dr. up a bit with your touches.

I make a true Texas Red and am damn proud of how it turns out! No Beans in my Chili. If the wife wants beans she can make her own Chili. Thanks go to RedNeck for given me my first taste of Texas Red (you know this is addictive and I blame you Red)
