Was sitting around yesterday and the wife was baking cookies. She informs me she is gonna make a pot of chili. Me being the sly one that I am, I snuck into the kitchen and helped her with the spices (she don't know it though). She asked if she could put a hunk of pulled pork in the pot? I told her "Sure, I think that would be different". Well, lo and behold it was the best damn chili I have ever eaten. Problem is, I don't know how much chili powder and cumin I put in so I'll prolly never have another bowl of this good stuff. Anyone else ever add bbq meats to soups and chilis?

Never tried it Greg. I think it's a hangin offense in Tejas though! Woodman
World champion chili cooks have used pork many times in the winning recipe / some will let a country pork rib soak in the chili & pull it out before serving.
I can’t tell you how many times I have cooked something / only to not be able to reproduce it again / that why / consistency in your BBQ is the first step in finding your own style/recipe.

Well I usually wind up using leftover smoked brisket and butt for stew. Mighty tasty in there. Few cans of beef broth..veggies..etc. Whamo its time to eat. Dont see how it could hurt eating chili a bit. Now I would not want to stick it in there at Terlingua of course. I prob leave out the kidney beans too. Did your chili have kidney beans by any chance? I work with a yankee from Iowa who just loves them things.

BEANS? Nope, no way no how... but I do serve with a side of white rice and corn bread. Just cause I'm from Jersey don't hold it against me.

We love beans. Especially great northern bean that spent some time in the smoker, but not in chili.

Highly love them Great Northerns myself. Mighty tasty over corbread. Also mighty good when converted over to baked beans.

I typically add a little tri-tip and pulled pork. I have tried to write stuff down as I am doing it, so that the next time I can improve on that....but that takes dicipline and I dont do it all the time....just a thought. I keep a pad next to my grill and in the kitchen. 8)
Juss my Cali two cents

Well, Greg, if it doesn't hit again, just ask, "Honey, what did you do different this time?"
