View Full Version : Placed in Ribs,Fajitas & Chicken this weekend!

I was asked to cook this weekend with a team of a couple of guys from work "The Midnight Stokers" cooking team. They had asked me to do the ribs so I gave it a shot. We placed 5th in ribs, 6th with fajitas, and 6th with the bird. This is only my second time to cook in a competition setting and both times I placed, the 5th ribs was out of 37 entries. Man this is addicting!!!! The cookoff was at the LaPorte/Lomax Rodeo Arena and was to benefit the Laporte Livestock Show and Rodeo Association, with all proceeds going to their scholarship fund. There was also a live auction and that was alot of fun, I didnt bid on to much as the highrollers ran the prices way up! Hell there was a little wooden wagon with some chips and dips, a couple bottle of alcohol and cheese and crackers that went for $5250.00!!!! I got to judge beans and fajitas, and let me say I will never do that again!!!! I will post some more pics later as my host is acting up. Thanks Q-Bruthas!

Congrats to all of you, Yall done good- I like the trophies they gave- lots better than dust collectors- found they stay in the house longer if they can be hung on the wall- the other trophies end up in garage lots sooner- the way your cookin, there will be many more!!!

Thanks fellas we just got through eating a slab here in the I/E Shop, one of my Analyzer Techs is licking the foil right now! :lol: :lol: :lol: They say they are Bad *** but to me they are not that good as I have had them right off the pit at the cookoff. Thanks for all the compliments and words of encouragment, I am definately hooked!
