It has come to my attention that we need to set some standards to our picture posting .....

In the subject line please add Photo in the subject line.

Pictures need to be limited to 4 per post.

All pictures must be sized to 640 x 480 pixels or smaller.

Ideal picture posting would be to just list the url and people can click on the link to see the picture. If picture control is not kept under control we may request that this is the only way to post. For now lets see if the smaller and fewer pics will help.

There have been 2 major problems with picture posting.

( 1 ) Size ... to large and it messes up the thread for a lot of people. We can all enjoy a small complete picture vs a large pic that must be scrolled. Once it is that large then we must also scroll just to read text msgs ... this is not cool.

( 2 ) Speed ... we must remember that not everyone in our Q family has DSL, Cable or other high speed access. There are still many with dialup. For those of you who might have forgotten those days, large pictures are very very slow loading. For those who never suffered dialup ... consider yourselves blessed. By adding Photo in the subject line you will be warning people there are photos in the post and it will give them the opportunity not to open if they do not or can not wait for the photos to load.

Effective immediately (March 21, 2005) if these rules are not followed the post will be deleted. I will notify anyone upon deletion of their post and the reason it was deleted.

If you have issues with sizing ... ask and there are plenty of people who will help. If you dont want to resize ... cool ... there are plenty of offsite hosting places available ... find one and use it.

If you feel the need to discuss this post please send me a PM.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

If anyone needs assistance re-sizing pictures, I'll be happy to help. As long as you don't send me 100 pics at at time, I can turn them around in just a few minutes if I'm at my desk (which is most of the time... :( )

I think this is only fare. I will make sure to change my pictures to 300x300 so as not to slow down our board for it's members.

Can anyone reccomend a good, free site? I am having big time problems with my personal web page and Comcast won't give any hints on how to make this work. I just want to be able to post pics like everyone else.

I use it too for multiple pics and like it. But I think sharing on a forum is confusing and not straight-forward. Could be I'm doin it the hard way, though.

I use imageshack for single shots.

M38 told me in a quickie-PM note how to make the image 'hot' with not a million words or characters.

But I forgot the secret recipe...It seems to methat if we all did that, then the threads would not be in Ciemascope. (That's Wide-screen for all you youngsters under 40)

I remember word perfect. I had to use that at the Friehouse for reports and graphs. I was stumped...it took me about 6 months to do jst fundamental...and I do emphasize MENTAL...functions on it.

Mac is the way to go for ease of anything. My friends cannot answer mewhen I tell them I DO NOT have a right click/left click...it's just a one click optical mouse.

For a basic resize, I use the Microsoft "resizer". It is a tool that you download, install, restart your computer... then all you do is right click on the picture and there will be a resize option. This will work with windows XP... Here's the link...

Same here, TB although imageshack took some getting used to. Kodak Gallery is a bit more user friendly IMHO!
