Well, since I really like ribs... and the Rendezvous in Memphis makes the best ribs I've ever eaten, that's where I'd choose.

Plus, Memphis has my favorite steak house too... Folk's Folly.

Well I dont eat storebought bbq less its free or something..but I got a cooking pal who went on a gluttonous adventure in Quansas City one time. He say they got the best. Course..he may not be as discriminating as you and I.

Think I would try somewheres in the Carolina's! I may be and probably am mistaken, but I think I read somewheres Q'n got it's roots in the Southeast. At any rate, the Carolina's would be closer ta home and after all there is a style cut rib named after em!!

You would be big as the side of a barn if you hit all the Q places in NC. In SC a lot of mustard base sauces are used that I don't care for too much. Public TV runs a show where this guy goes out in NC and hits a lot of Q places and shows him eating the meals and marveling over them. You can see his arteries clog up as he eats. Anyway, there are quite a few within 25 miles of here and where Corndog lives. Most are good. Wish you could go to the Sunday buffet at Bills in Wilson,NC. All you care to eat for around $7. and it is all good. They even have a pig pickin pig to pull on.

LOCKHART,TX

Well, this is the right place for no-brainers. I take that as one vote for LocQhart.

"There are four BBQ restaurants in Lockhart. The restaurants estimate that about 5,000 people visit their establishments each week. This would be roughly 250,000 people a year who eat BBQ in Lockhart.

Texas Legislature, first the House of Representatives in the Spring of 1999, then in the Fall of 2003, the Senate passed a resolution proclaiming Lockhart to be The Barbecue Capital of Texas."

Right on TRR, there is some great que from our neck of the woods. But I believe some of the best que can be found in Corndogville, NC(just a little down the road from Tar's crib)...The que is good right now, but everytime my friends and I eat there, the service and food keep getting better. Best thing is, you never know what is going to show up on the desert menue!!!!!

No offense intended to anyplace, but KC embraces ALL forms of BBQ. Don't try to get brisket in Lexington, and likewise, don't ask for pork in Lockhart. I'd take KC!

Well i only get day passes  read: how far can you get on a day pass?
But i would have to say "TEXAS" i love beef brisket, beef ribs, sausage.
And also haven't been disappointed yet with this cooking style or anything that has been ordered from those parts.

Texas BBQ rub
Texanas pepper Jelly
My Klose offset
Salt lick BBQ sauces.
Plenty more.....
in that order

I was awaitin for a KC fan. Here's whut the KCBS (BS stands for Barbecue Society) said in 1997:
When it comes to lip-smackin', finger-lickin', chin-dribblin', literally rib-stickin' barbecue, Kansas City holds its own. The Carolinas can rightfully claim to be the cradle of American barbecue and Texas is by far the brisket capital of the world. But Kansas City brings it all together with more than 90 barbecue joint - from little bitty eateries to full-blown, nothing-but-barbecue restaurants.

I have to differ with you there, Woody. Kreutz's has always been quite proud of their pork chops, and they are mighty good. I also don't quite know what you find in their links, but I figure it also walked around on cloven hooves.

I'm also with Lockhart.

I've been all over KC for barbeque. It's pretty hit and miss around there, but what else is new for Q. It would be a close second.

Memphis is a one-trick pony. It's an awful good trick, but it's not worth living on.

All around the Carolinas is some wonderful, wonderful food. However, I need my beef.

Save your gas, buy ribs and cook'em in Seaville  Not much Q around if I remember right. Years ago had a guy Q and sell chicken or rib sammies and miller light for $5. He was on Hook Road in Pennsville.
Hit him several times a week on way to work. Brick pit in old screen house. Not sure if still there.

Well thanks for that welcome to the panthenon (sic) or whutever they call it. I am highly honored to join them rareified ranks of course and thanks to whoever is pulling the strings to get a person an upgrade. Only famous sausage I ever ate from that general geographic area was Elgin Hotguts. I was not impressed. They are a slight improvement over Pittsburgh Hot links but not much. Now I hear they got a competitor in town and turning out some good sausage..Meyers I believe is the name of the place. Heard many good repoats on that one but some folks are more easily pleased than others..so there aint much telling.

Not a lot of people have. St. Louis isn't really that big of a BBQ town. At least, I've never seen much when I was there. I don't know how that trim of rib became known as "St. Louis" style, but I wonder if someone didn't name it that just to make it sound fancy (like "Philadelphia" cream cheese).
