Ok, here's the question for today:

Do you really rub the Rub into the meat, or do you just sprinkle it on?

I RUB IT IN. JUST FIGURE IF IT WAS NAMED SPRINKLE I WOULD SPRINKLE. SO SINCE ITS A RUB, JUST KINDA SEEMED NATURAL TO RUB. I KNOW IF I WAS A PIECE OF MEAT I WOULD RATHER BE RUBBED THAN SPRINKLED ON   !!!

I use a strainer and push it through. Sprinkle! If you are doing quantity, you cannot really rub! You get too messy!

It all depends on the mood that I am in @ that time. But usually I just rub it on myself. Although I have be known to sprinkle it on Teut les temps en temps(Translates to every now & then).

I just sprinkle it on after applying a thin coat of yellow mustard or worchestire sauce. Rubs like Texas BBQ rub just melt into the meat after 15 minutes. And there is a school of thought that says rubbing it in clogs the pores making it more difficult for the rub to get inside the meat. I don't know if it's true, but that's what John Willingham claims in his book.

That's about how I do it. I'm usually sprinkling with one hand and rubbing with the other until I like the coat.

This is starting to sound a little weird.

I just use my fingers for sprinkling. Sometimes, I use a large spoon or even a slotted spoon.

Depends how lonely I am that week. If it is really a lonely week I rub a lot. If not I try to sprinkle a few in.

I used to put on a heavy coating. I now give it a light dusting from a flour sifter.

We have a rat problem in downtown I could collect some furs of them and overnight them to you.

Been awhile since I skinned a rat guess last time was when I was in the mafia and Junior tried to endrun the boss.

Nahhh....can't endrun the boss without meeting the cheese slicer. One of those non-negotiable sins in the family business.

Rubbing my meat is something I take serious

I rub it in well & do a sprinkle at the end

I think to get it done right it takes the perfect combination of sprinkling, patting, and rubbing.

 Smoke Daddy do not get that one. I killed one of those already. Get the old fashioned one with the wire that goes around. That one has a double sifting action and the rub clumps in the middle of the 2 screen. Just get ya a cheap wire sifter.

I'm with you on that, 101. I swear by the crank-style sifter. I never liked those where you squeezed the handle.

He's talking about a wire strainer. You just push through any lumps with your hands. This is not a mechanical product.
