Hi All
I was wondering if there was any difference in the basic recipe for a rub used on beef as opposed to a rub used on pork. I have used both of Bills rubs and don't find a huge difference in the flavor profiles.
Thanks
Al

My understanding is the brisket blend is a coarser grind of the same ingredients. We had a discussion a while back that since there was less labor involved in the grinding process, the price should be less. Haven't seen any action taken, yet  . Now I just hope they let me continue to post  .

Yea, but if it's coarser, (bigger chunks), won't you get more weight?

2 lbs is 2lbs. I use the regular on everything, pork, beef, yard buzzard, and did I mention Ribs?

I am not askng for an explanation of the differences in the TXBBQ rubs specifically. I am asking if there is a need for a different recipe for a rub used on beef as opposed to a rub used on pork.

Hey Uncle Al, To my knowledge, I don't honestly think so. I know that there are PPL out there that will tell you different. But I personally use the K.I.S.S Method.(Keep It Simple Stupid) Hence Bill's rub works on most anything as far as I am concerned. But that is just me.

Ditto what Paul said and what I said before. I use regular bills rub on everything I smoke.

I use both of Bills Rubs. I like the brisket blend for larger pieces of meat like Brisket and I like TexasBbqRub for Ribs and Butts.

I always add a little more brown sugar to the rub when doing pork, 'case I like it that way. But on beef, I don't want that sweet taste. Do whatever you like, it's ok, I promise.
