OK , I'm fed up with the pieces of **** that pass for thermos on my Klose pit. Which Ashcrofts do I want for my pit? I'll need three. Do I go with a onger stem? The space where they go in is basically useless any way. What say yee?
Woodie,
Look at the last row. You get from 50-550 coverage. Very versatile. If you can fit the longer stem I would GO THAT ROUTE as it will get you deeper into the pit for a more accurate reading.

I agree with Mac. The best prices I've found are here. (http://flw.com/olash7.htm#1082) You set the options when you order.

I got the 50-550 with 4 inch stem, $56.00. I like the longer stem, goes within 1/2 inch of top tray. Great read on top tray.
Just remember not to put a butt under it

I think you could get away with two or three different sizes. I dont remember if your pit was a 24'"or a 30 " but I would think the middle and bottom guage at about a 12 " stem and the top some where about 9".that should get them in the center of the pit,... your Klose has them in the middle correct? ( I got to flip back over to the pix.)
I got mine from Grainger 55 bucks 50'-500' 6 inch stem

What brand you got on there now Woodman? What about these EADS I've heard about? Tru-Tel or Tru-Temp?
I will some day buy long stems for mine, but I can only use them on the middle and bottom rack. For some brilliant  reason, the top one is in at an angle, so any longer than the one I have would hit the rack.

It's a 24" but the top one is angled like 1044's. I need one on the upright too.
Woodman, I got mine from Graingers. Here's a link. They seem to be pretty reasonable if you have a branch near you. :?

Woody, I prefer the 50-400 like I'm running...
Rarely you will get that hot and the numbers are easier to read
