I'm very tempted to order some TPJ, but I'd like some input. Who has tried it with smoked turkey? Which would be better? Texana, this is your product - which do you recommend?

TIA

Rookie,

Welcome to the forum. Don't waste your time looking for testimonials TPJ is the best and I haven't seen a negative comment about it in the 1.5 years or so that I've been posting. It just comes down to identifying which of the flavors suites your pallet. The best way to find out is to order some of the offerings and form your own opinions. It's all good whatever you choose! 8)

Yeah, but what would compliment the turkey the best. I'm sure it's all good, but I don't really have the time to test which one would be best. This time next year I'll be able to form my own opinion...

Rookie,

I don't think we ever had a thread about which TPJ is the best for any particular meat, probably because it is so subjective. We have talked about Ribs in particular, and the Peach based TPJs seems to always be praised. Don't recall anyone having a specific comment about turkey. Perhaps someone else can offer up a comment to help you.

Hi Rookie,

I've never used TPJ on Turkey. However, turkey usually does good with all things sweet, so I'd go with your favorite fruit from Texana's selections. Also depending on your preference for heat, the Jalapeno is less intense that the Habanero, although each loses a bit of their heat when they are warmed, so not to worry about too much heat if you're feedin' the wife & kiddies...

Now, if'n Texana would get on the ball... he'd come up with Cranberry Jalapeno TPJ around the holidays. Now THAT would be killer fer shure... :) Mix in the sweet/tart taste of the cranberries with the heat of the peppers... now that would be some good eats!

Oh man! I wish I didn't think of that. Now I'm really cravin' some Cranberry TPJ for turkey. :(

I think that cranberry/pepper jelly thing should be seriously considered. Texanna could whip up a batch for a trial tasting at Q festivus....

I have used Texas Passion on turkey and it dissappeared quickly. granted Texas Passion is the handsdown favorite of 2 out of 4 people who ate the turkey, but it did blend well with the turkeys taste. Texana, the cranberry in both heat levels would add some holiday cheer to the table big time, or somekind of cranbeery concoction from that kitchen of yours. would we mislead you about so sacred a subject as TPJ????

Well I'll be a floopeared fritterfooter, he does make Cranberry TPJ. Guess that I'll have to start looking past the Pineapple and Peach, and pay closer attention to the other items listed.

Rookie,
Ok Ok let's see here ..TURKEY hmmm,i say
TPJ- Pear Jalapeno,Cranberry,Apple,Passion. imo... in that order.I smoke only turkey wings and i'v tried these 4.
Anyone notice our great master Jelly maker ain't postin? That could only mean oneof 2 things, either he got hit by a bus, which well i hope that bus get's repaired quickly,or Texana's makin a huge batch of Jelly's for all of us to enjoy 8)
Ok i'm editing: i meant ain't no little bus going to hurt Texana, that would take a 747 landing gear on final approach at the very least
Crap! i know! no jelly's for me!
Yeah i know i'm like a crack *****, only with jelly's.

I was going to order some, but $9.00 for shipping???

Mac
10-23-2005, 09:05 AM
Texana does not make any profit on the shipping nor does he want too. What you are experiencing is the high cost of getting it from him to you, wherever that may be. Expect the trend to continue or get worse as the oil climbs and the cost is simply transferred to those who want products shipped. :(

You won't find a better person to deal with or a better product which ever way you go!

Grumpy Gator

Yeah, what Mac said...

Besides, the shipping is a nit. Where else you gonna get the best jelly on the planet? Well worth it, IMHO...

That berry medley jelly also would go well with turkey. I've saved a jar of the limited blueberry jalapeno, as well.

Texana personally delivered my TPJ to Llano, Texas. He didn't even charge me shipping and handling. If I remember correctly, I tipped him a dollar 8) . I hope he doesn't start expecting that every time, now  .
