I'd put it on during the last 20-30 minutes if I was smokin it. The very end if grilling. Good luck. Woody

Hey MI Smoke, The Woodster would definitely know about the TPJ application. He could be considered a TPJ addict as well as a TBBQRub addict too.. That's what I would do as far as doing the chicken goes. Oh yeah, Welcome in to the forum MI Smoke. Anytime that you have a question about anything BBQ, you have found the right place to go. Oh & there ain't no such thing as a stupid question with the exception of the one that you don't ask.So feel free to fire away @ anytime & don't be a stranger either

Welcome MI smoke. I did a beer butt chicken last night using apple juice. I didn't apply pepper jelly, but I do use the stuff on ribs. I mix it with some BBQ sauce usually and apply the last 30 to 60 minutes. But if putting it on chicken, I might mix with a little vinegar or water and brush on the last 30 minutes.

You just have to be careful with Woodman, he's from Ohio where they like such things as Buckeyes and Cavaliers, but considering, he's not a bad guy..

Welcome MI Smoke, good to have another "northener" among us.

Thanks TRR. I have been using homemade TPJ for a long time and never knew of it as TPJ. We can't get that stuff up here in Canada and to have it shipped costs way too much. So, I grow my own jalapenos and habenaros and make my own jelly. I haven't found anything that I don't like it on.

When you live up here you got to do a lot for yourself, cause a lot of everything isn't available in Canada. 1st off, I don't know of any BBQ pit manufacturers up here. Most Canadians think of BBQ as the gas grill that they do burgers and steaks on. They do not realize that BBQ is the food you eat when cooked on a pit. So that's why you get good at making things for yourself. Thanks for the compliment BH Bbq.

Welcome to the bunch MI smoke...TPJ is a very good product that I have used on many things. For chicken, I've used it so far only when grilling. Put it on at the end just before you think it's gonna be done to flavor and glaze. Gotta admit I'm not too big on the heat of Habanero, so my experience is only with Jalapeno. TB's idea of cuting it with a touch of vinegar is a good one...gotta try it too with the Hab when I get the nerve to try it...should thin it nicely
