View Full Version : 300+ chickies and 200 links later...
Well, it's done, with a chick chick here, a chick chick there, here a chick, there a chick, ever...I digress. Anywho... a pit-O-chick. After I got most of the chicken done, I threw on anothe pile-O-links. Those folks are prolly still eating.
One of my little nieces came up to hug me and said, "You smell good!" with a big grin. I told her I smelled like chicken. "I know!"

Thank ya, sir. The reason I posted all these pics is 'cause I want y'all to know I can cook. I'm gettin' tired of have the reppytation of just bein' a purty face. If'n the girls want, they can like me for my purty figger, too. I've lost 16 lbs. since the first of the year.
That looks like it was quite a job doing all those chickens and a job well done by the looks of it. 8)

Well I can sure feel your pain on the wimmens having trouble keeping the mitts off of ya...expurience the same set of problemos myownself. Now the only part I cant agree with is trying to convince wild wimmens that you can cook too. I think we getting the hoss on the wrong end of the cart here. The cooking burden be on them least if whut my Daddy say was true..and my Daddy never did tell too many tall tales...cept when his lips was moving..which was not often less he be quaffing a little Falstaff and Old Crow..which was purty often come to thunk on it. Know who knew the speed of light and such things if that have any bearing of the issues at hand. Now my Uncle Johnnie always say a woman can only be talented in one area. They either know how to cook real good or they is real loveable or whutever. He say you could not find both tendencies in the same woman. Now you reckon he was right too? They was brothers ya know?

Looks great 1044. Do the ones closest to the fire box cook faster than the ones on the far side?
The fastest spot is on the bottom rack in the upright, where the heat comes in. Then, the bottom row in the horizontal. Top row a close 2nd, then the middle row and others in the upright.
The side to the firebox may be slightly faster, but negligible. It's pretty much that a whole row is ready at one time.

Ya know...think you need a few more temp gauges from top to bottom on that horizontal part. Think I got the injunerring figgered out. We run em in a full 360 circle around the middle. That give you room for at least another 15 or so. Whut kind of train do you drive?

Well, fac tis, them therms are mostly for Dave to sell. They don't really tell ya what's goin on inside the pit. Theys usually substantially off from them li'l oven therms I spread around inside the pit.
Theys mostly useless on a short cook, like chikies or weenies. On a brisket run, they will finally level out at a certain temp that ya can use once ya figger the differential from the oven therms.
By the end of a 15 hour cook, they will be right near the oven therms readings.
But, don't theys look purty hangin out rat there? I hangs tinsel on 'em come Christmas time.
