Ok, my wife wants to know how to make cobbler on the BBQ Pit. Do any of you know? She wants to make peach cobbler. Do you make it on top of the firebox or do you do it inside the BBQ Pit? What kind of dishes or pots do you use? Any help will be appreciated.

Need to check with Bill or Blake on this one. They make their old Boy Scout special in a cast iorn dutch oven. Good stuff! Even the crispy stuff.

Check recipe category for cobblers, I think TB had a recipe posted for one using a Dutch oven, canned peaches and a cake mix...

Your right. I saw that one. We are going to try it when we pick up the pit (the wait is killing me). I was just wondering about different opinions or methods. That one looks easy to make and I really like simple.

Yep, Yellow cake mix, two cans of sliced peaches with juice, some sugar and butter. In a 9x12 or so alum pan dump in the peaches and cover with the cake mix. Put a bunch of butter 'pats' on the cake mix (I use spray butter to fill in the holes), sprinkle some sugar on top and maybe some cinnamon, cover it to keep the smoke flavor out. Try to cook at 350 for about an hour and a quarter.

Works MUCH better in the oven in a pyrex dish using the above. Also, cook until the top is a golden brown. Have done these the same way in dutch ovens over coals. If your firebox is large enough to let you do it, I'd suggest the dutch oven route. Don't forget to line the oven with alum foil first or clean up is a pain.

Well yall need to figger out if you want to cook a cobbler on the pit or in a Dutch Oven. There is a differnece ya know? For Dutch Ovens you need coals not pits. Which one you want to make? I got recipes for both but they aint interchangeable.

Try this easy one. You can cook it in the oven, in the pit or in the Dutch oven. The slower you cook it, the higher the dough will rise.

1 stick butter
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
salt
1 can fruit
1/4 tsp vanilla

1 Melt butter in 10 inch Dutch oven.
2 Mix other ingredients in bowl.
3 Pour mixed ingredients into melted butter and add fruit but do not stir.
4 Place lid on Dutch oven, add coals, and cook until top is brown.
