Planning to make the recipe today and saw that it calls for cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup (27 oz can). Only cans of soup this size i found are CONDENSED soup. Do I reconstitute the soup or use it as is? HELP. Thanks

When I made it I used condensed soup and I didn't water it down. It came out great. :D

I believe that is the only way that those 'cream of' soups come. So you're doing right to open the can and dump it in...(tech talk)

First time for me today on Bills taters. I found combined cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup in same can. Didn't know it came that way.

I use Tony Chachere's Cream of Mushroom soup mix. (http://www.tonychachere.com/mixes/roux_gravy_mixes.cfm#) I add the dry mix to the cream of chicken soup, then add it to the potatoes.

MI, you can put the onions in raw or cooked....if raw they will soften some while the dish is heating up, if cooked then put in, they will be a lil sweeter from caramelizing of their sugar and a lil darker....either way will work.
That's one of the great things about this recipe.....you can add things to personalize it to your own or your guests tastes.....seasonings of your choice, chopped brisket, pulled pork, chopped pork rib meat, deboned bbq'd chicken, crispy bacon, horse radish, mashed roasted garlic pods, chopped green onions.....etc.

Keep some tortillas nearby and a large spoon. Place one large dollup in the tortilla and zap for a few. Talk about a great breakfast, or lunch, or snack, or dinner, or...

MI Smoke.. I think Santa answered your question on the onion. I dice them and they cook real quick in the mix.

I have heard PK talk about Tony Chacheries cream of mushroom soup mix before and have never found it in the local stores.. PK do you mail order it or buy local here in Houston??

Another tip on this stuff is to double the cheese.. can't ever heve much cheese

I buy it at Kroger. Look for it near the gravy mixes.

Use the salsa with Michelob's Ziploc omlette recipe. That's a damn tasty omlette.
