Yes, it's very good on briskets. I'm not sure if I like the Wild or the Brisket Blend better, but the Wild is very good. When I make some room in my freezer, I'll have to cook a side-by-side experiment.

Seems the Texas Wild may be a little sweeter than the
Brisket blend. However, You will not be sorry with the Wild rub. It is a great rub. I use it regularly. Have used it on brisket, ribs and other pork, and Chicken, and in beans, on a baked potato, ....

"Wild" and a little Dr. Pepper or Coke for a binder..... MMmmmmmmmmm

Yes, Wild is very good on briskets. A few of us on the forum are split as to whether or not we like it on pork ribs better than the originals, but in any case, you can't go wrong with it.

Simply put - It Works.

M38A1,
Not to hijack the thread but when did you switch from wooster as the binder to coke or dr. pepper? What differance did you see? Do they give you a sweet flavor?
Just curious.
Thanks.

I'm not sure I can tell a big difference, but there's a subtle 'sweetness' to the bark on my pork butts and briskets when I use a coke or dr. pepper. I sort of prefer that little bit of carmalization, but I'm not sure that's really what it is since my temps don't typically go over 225*F or so and it takes upwards of 300*F or so to carmalize.

Maybe I just like telling people I pour a coke over it and apply rub because it sounds, well - so simple?

I have the wild rub and will give it a try soon, the aroma and finger test seems would be great on chicken.

Well then go with the coke. 8)

It's like the mustard or wooster - you can't taste it, but these soda waters DO have the ability to give a bit harder/flavorful bark.

I agree. Texas Wild actually has my favorite taste out of all the rubs. Everyone should try it on various meats at least once.

I have to order some. I still have some brisket blend left but a little less Original.

Kathy asks me what I'm gonna do with all those rubs, but I keep putting them in different dishes and she loves the taste. The other day I put some in my Gorgonzola-stuffed hamburgers and the taste was great!!!

Tomato soup and Bill's rub-another simple way to spice it up!!! Try this one.

Texas Wild is a really good rub, but it's pretty select. Texas Wild gives a much more mild flavor. The flavour of rub just doesn't explode like with original. It's very good if you want a flavour that isn't so much in your face.

I recommend it on brisket and chicken. I like it on a brisket with Shiner poured on it. It puts hair on your chest.

The new Wild Rub is really tasty, just finished up 6 racks, one with coke which was sweeter and tenderer than the worchester and nekkid ones, got yelled at for using sauce on 2 racks, also rubbed up a small brisket with Bock n Wild and was really impressed, wouldn't have thought it would be this good on beef. :)
