I made some baby backs this weekend and I used cranberry jalapeno TPJ that we forgot to open at Thanksgiving. I think I like it better than the pineapple habanero! This was used with Bill's Original Rub and mesquite wood with a little pecan. Not too bad for a newbie!

That too is a good one. For me, the cranberry seems to go well with pork and birds just as easily.

So far I've just tried it on toast.

I am still waiting for my order. Is this TPJ hot stuff? If it is I will like it but not to many of the family or friends care to much for real hot stuff.

I love the Peach/Habanero and Strawberry-Rhubarb/Habanero on cream cheese.

DaHorns is right, they are not hot in a heat sense, rather a slow, building sweet heat. The hab's are 'warmer' than than jap flavors FYI.....

The pineapple was hot for me at first, but I put it on right at the end. This time, I put them on and wrapped them for probably an hour and half, then left them open for another 45 minutes or so. I do not like real hot stuff and it was fine. The first time, I did not warm it in the microwave, I just spread it on - I probably used too much. This time was better!

The habs are warmer than the japs but the heat goes away much faster with the habs. Thats why I use the habs at competitions. I dont want to offend a judge with a flaming mouth.

My home cooks mirror what 397 said. use the hab atleast 1/2 before pulling, great flavor, mild heat...tasty stuff...

i've been tossing the idea around for the next batch..
any benefits to doing the 1st coat in jelly only. 2nd mix BBQ sauce with some jelly, then the last in just sauce...
anybody tried this? comp results?

As I've said before TPJ is spicy and not killer hot. I don't like to be challenged by my food. My wife tolerates hot food even less than I do, and she prefers the TPJ Hab now over the Jap.

Personaly, I have no preference per se. I just like any TPJ that I can get my hands on.
