Not just you ...
The owner has been ill and is in the process of turning the whole thing to his son. The story is the son is to busy with other stuff to give it much attention.
The claim it will reopen, but do not know when.

Seems that there was a thread on Fab several months ago. I tried a search, but could not find it. I did find their web site.
http://www.theingredientstore.com
I have 3 comments.
1. Re: ...my brother has actually lost his real job over this. To all of you who harassed him into this...
Did you lose your job? Apparently not? Why not? Because of decisions you made. No, your brother made his own decisions. No one, except your brother, is responsible for his decisions.
2. I never did business with this business, nor would I ever after this.
3. In my opinion, you are the King of *******s

So Bill I get the picture, it is our your customers fault that the business is losing money. It is our your customers fault your brother lost his job. It is our fault that you are bitter with the world.
But it is you Bill that I tried to deal nicely with to resolve order issues. I was never in the least bit nasty in our dealings but there was no resolution. You just quit communicating period. Yes I told the truth on this forum and if you don't approve of that well tough you earned it.
It is certainly unfortunate that your father Joe experienced serious health issues, I lost my father while I was in school and still miss him dearly. Treasure the time you still have with your father.

Bill, I have a real simple solution for you. Post the receipe. It will be all over the internet in 24 hours, you will get plenty of positive emails and nobody will bother you by sending you thier dirty money! Plus all of the brisket cookers will be on an equal level! Cool huh? John. (Junior *******)
Is this a joke? The reason people got upset with the Ingredient Store in the first place was a lack of communication. Period. And when there is some type of public response, this is it? I don't think you're going to find a more patient and supportive group of people anywhere outside the bbq world. To blame them for the treatment (or the lack of...) that they've recieved is completely ludicrous. To find out that we are the unappreciative benefactors of The Ingredient Store's CHARITY is beyond my comprehension. Whoever decided to continue operations without the ability to service the customers is to blame for this situation, regardless of intentions or how pathetic you imagine our apparently useless existence would be without the Ingredient Store to support us. I don't ususally stoop to this level but I think this situation justifies it:
Edit: On second thought, I still won't stoop that low but let me just say,
"Can't win without Fab" my ***. I think I'd rather inject my brisket with piss rather than support your family's business at this point. How proud your father must be after seeing what his sons have managed to do in the name of his "legacy."

The other thread on The Ingredient Store was at:
http://forum.texasbbqrub.com/showthread.php?t=31607
If pskc cares to read it, as well as posts prior to his on this thread, he'll note that a good number of comments are purely informative and neutral - simply giving people the status of the company, Bill's father's health, and the results of communications they've had with Bill's brother. Several posts have been sympathetic to Bill's father and the situation.
If he's looking for a diarrheal discharge of vitriol, he's not going to see it - other than his own post, of course.
It's interesting that he more or less begins by explaining that they're not shuttering the business because they're basically "doing it for the customers" (mostly due to the fact that so many of you depend on the product--you simply can't win without it.), even going so far as to call it charity work.
Then he does a little 180 and says basically that customers suck and when a business can't function it's actually the customers' fault. Although he says he's not involved in the business directly, he undermines it from the side - worse than any negative comments a customer could make.
Running a small business is tough. Being customer-service oriented is tough. Making tough decisions on whether a business constitutes a going concern is also tough. Communicating with customers, particularly when one has a web presence (apparently Bill had a hand in that) is mandatory - particularly when orders are taken and seemingly disappear into a void.
Here's some advice: When OldManMurray (http://www.oldmanmurray.com/features/723.html) said that they were optimistic that outright nastiness mixed with a foul mouthed style of bitterness couldn't fail to make us a million dollars, they were using a mixture of humor, sarcasm, and hyperbole - which was explained further by their glass half-empty example. It sounds like Bill's glass is half-full, and I'd suggest he pour it out. Unless it's all there is to drink in which case I'd recommend trying to filter it first.

Hi Folks,
First off, while The Ingredient Store is my father's business, I am not involved in day-to-day operations, however, I must address the issues raised in this thread. This is a general rant, and I understand that much of this is addressed to people who probably don't visit this message board. It's just that this is a site I bumped into.
If this message sounds nasty, well, it is. That's because after three years of taking it on the chin, I'm bitter.
After my father's protracted recovery from multiple bypass surgery, my brother decided to carry on with the business. This is partly due to preserving the legacy, but mostly due to the fact that so many of you depend on the product--you simply can't win without it. FAB has made many of you winners, coming into big money and yes, even contributing to fame. When I watch any BBQ special on The Food Network, I see a lot of FAB customers, and the judges always comment on the qualities that FAB is designed for.
Now, as for the store, yes, there have been delays, lack of communication, etc. and frankly, it's because some of you people are just downright nasty, with over-inflated opinions of your importance. Many of you are downright nice, too, and you're generally the ones who get the best service. Sadly, when you burn a man out, all suffer.
Let me make this perfectly clear: we have LOST tens of thousands of dollars on this business in the last 3-4 years. It is charity work, really, and my brother has actually lost his real job over this. To all of you who harassed him into this, shame on you. For those of you who have published my contact information in public forums, shame on you, too. I am not a shareholder in the business, and I am not responsible for any problems you may have. I am loosely affiliated at best, and then only because I have expertise in some areas of the product via my father. I take no money from the store at all.
If I can help, I'll try, but insulting me will not make me want to help you. It's amazing how nasty people can be when they write letters to "companies", making idle threats and worse. There are people on the other end of those email addresses, and when you threaten and insult people, do you honestly think that's going to encourage them? NO, it makes them want to tell you to go to hell. Think about that when you're dealing with companies, and for that matter, anybody, in the future.
Again, just about the only reason the store is still open is to satisfy the incredible demand for this product. Some of you are so hooked on it as to threaten lawsuits when you can't get it.
The corporation is losing money hand over fist on this venture, and it is well past bankruptcy, FYI.
What we are investigating is an entirely new marketing strategy that will take the product to a distribution-level model, not retail. What that means is that the product will be produced in mass, then sold to distributors in bulk. Retailers could then pick up the product or it could be used by meat processors directly.
What I find ironic is that while The Ingredient Store is losing money, many of you are winning big prize money. I could publish lists of names and contest results if I wanted to violate your privacy.
Now, if you want to be able to get FAB in the future, there are several things you can do. First, buy in bulk. It's horribly ineficient to ship one pound at a time. Second, if it's at all possible, and I realize this may be a stretch, get together and order at the same time. My brother needs to drive quite a distance to process the orders, and if he can do 10 at a time, you are more likely to get your product quicker.
Oh yes, by the way, credit cards are not being charged until the product ships. That was not an option a six months ago, but it's been changed.
If you have any PRODUCTIVE suggestions, criticism, questions, etc. I'll be happy to entertain your emails. If you simply want to call me names, threaten me, sue or otherwise be a hate-monger, then leave me alone. My advice to you is to not buy the product.
Last statement: if you want to continue to buy FAB, you'll need to work with us. If "the company" has been unresponsive, it's generally because you're an ***, or somebody was dying, literally. We have lost three family members in as many years. If you'd like to buy the corporation, seriously, we'd welcome serious inquiries.

That is the most self-serving piece of bull$hit I've read in a long time ....maybe ever. So from everything I've ever read on this subject, because y'all have taken many peoples money and never gave them their product, and they had the gall to actually inquire about it, sometimes multiple times without response, it is their fault for all of your wordly troubles???

I don't compete, but if I did I would make sure that the Q judges around the country knew that there is someone out there who thinks those who do compete can't win without using his laundry detergent product. That is, he has so captivated their (the judges) taste buds that they have no free will in making a choice of the winner. Personally, I think everyone needs to rethink the whole brining, injecting, enhancing thing. If you can't grill a moist piece of chicken, for example, you may want to rethink your methods and learn to poke your meat with your finger!
Sorry.

I was considering the possibility that this message from Bill Ames was not genuine. I was pretty annoyed when I first read that stuff but now I'm starting to wonder. I just sent it to Bob Ames and suggested that he put out a statement for confirmation or damage control.
Well, the message is genuine, per Joe Ames Jr.

20 dollars a pound for your product and your broke?
Must be your award winning customer service and public relations depts.' marketing strategy would be my guess.
For what it's worth, I had an email conversation with Joe Jr. (who is not an official part of the Ingredient Store, nor is his brother Bill) during which he told me that he'd hoped for a little more understanding from the public during the trying times his family had gone thorugh. I tried to convey why, IMHO, people have been so angry with them in the past and tried to make some suggestions as to how to go about improving the situation. I don't mean to sound like I have all the answers but I figured a little conversation on the topic might be helpful. I told him that he won't find a more understanding and supportive group than those on this board but that no one is going to take kindly to the kind of message his brother had posted. I suggested he come here and talk to y'all personally. He told me that he'd pass it on to his brother and father so I guess we'll see what happens.

Jetton's Mop for All Barbecue Meats
3 x Tablsp salt
3 x Tablsp dry mustard
3 x Tablsp garlic powder
1 x Tablsp ground bay leaves
2 x Tablsp chili powder
3 x Tablsp paprika
2 x Tablsp Louisana hot sauce
2 pt Worcestershire
1 pt Vinegar
4 qt Beef bone stock (This simply be good beef broth. I like Minor's or Betta than Bullion beef base. No do not use bullion cubes:)
1 pt Oil
3 x Tablsp MSG
Method : Bring to a low boil and let sit over night.
