Plannin' on smokin' my first pork butt this weekend. Not a big spread, just for my wife and kids. It's supposed to be really cold here this weekend with daytime highs around 20 and nighttime lows around 5 degrees...should be interesting!

Have a great weekend everybody!!!

Decided not to split the point and flat, but did trim it some.

Been moving all week and now unpacking in the new house. It is chaos. Working today at the shop, then back home to continue the endless unpacking and trying to organize things. Bringing a new Rental Budget Mobile home after work to season it to cook on tomorrow. Figured I'd let it burn while I unpack things. Got a few folks coming over tomorrow for SB.

I feel your pain. Here in northeast Ohio, we don't see the sun until May.
It was sunny yesterday but it was also only 8* out there
What time do we eat by the way?

Something I learned from my cook yesterday, I need a bigger pit or I need to add a series of shelves. Yesterday I acctually ran out of room on the pit, and had 2 racks of ribs left over that couldn't fit on the pit. It was kinda aggrevating.....LOL I became concerned at the beginning of the cook for this reason, but everything began falling into place towards the afternoon, and turned out fine by the time food was served. And with 2 less racks of ribs there were 3 ribs left at clean up. All in all it was a good cook, and everyone left happy! Bill's taters were a HIT, if you haven't tried these, do it the next time you will LOVE them!!!

I also made a Carolina Mustard BBQ sauce that I tried on the tenderloin, and it was REALLY good, I think it would go good on a pulled pork sammich.

Put a couple spares on a little after nine, this morning :) .

Just finished stuffing twenty or so chicken thighs to add on a little later.

Nice morning and good weather for sitting out by the pit...couldn't ask for much better .

Will toss all in box and head over to a friend's house when cooked...small party eight or ten people w/ everyone bringing a little something 8) .

I tossed a couple of pork loin in the oven w/ bill's rub..they came out FANTASTIC. I usually 'save' the rub for true smokes, but I was in a hurry & needed something tasty to flavor the loin.

Yum. Highly recommended. ;)
