I am a long time reader and this is the first time I've posted...
....here is a philosophical (fillosawfickle for some of you  ) question.
I have a traeger smoker and just purchased the grand hall propane (which I converted to natural gas) smoker and I am wondering that even though the food tastes great am I a cheatin' dog in the BBQ world?

You may or may not hear from the nay-sayers but to me it all depends on what you like. Myself, I am not into using gas, my wife, however, likes to cook on our gas grill and she does a good job (dont you honey bunny?).

Your question reminds me of a story.
The couple went through the rigors of their wedding day and finally made it to the hotel to start their honeymoon.
He drops his drawers and she gasps and says "Who do you expect to satisfy with that little thing?".
He says " Me, dat's who".

It depends. What are the rules?

Ya know southpaw in some places it just doesn't matter take for example if you live in a state where they boil ribs ignorance is really a perfectly legit defense.
What I say is, "What ever floats yer boat!" Never smoked wid gas so I can't say fer sher and never used a pellet pusher but have seen 'em in action with comp teams winning GC, RGC, and TOTY awards consistantly!

As long as you're happy that's what counts. I like trying a lot of different techniques (except boiling ribs)....just for the fun of it. Keep on truck'n!

BTW Southpaw I have two Traegers, a little electric and a stick burner that's gas assisted, and a gas grill.
The proof is in the puttin'.

My .02 is if your happy thats all that counts. Now with that being said, If your budget allows, go buy a cheapo brinkman smoker, some charcoal, and some hickory chips, throw in some ribs with TXBBQRUB and see if you like the end result. Maybe $100 well spent. If it doesn't workout, you can always send that smoker to Naw Yawk. They seem to come up missing up there all the time.
