This past weekend was the Temple Airshow. Crappy weather like every year, limited number of aircraft, and a bunch of hungry guys. Seems like the Jeep Burgers are always a big hit. Well, that and some jalapeno-venison sausage wraps. I also bag-sucked my first pork butt from a few weeks ago. Pulled it out of the freezer and let it thaw for a few days in the 'fridge, then took it out of the bag, wrapped in foil for a few hours on the pit. When warmed, just pulled it like normal and tossed it into a pan. They guys couldn't get enough of the pulled pork in a warmed flour tortilla with some mango-ginger-habanaro glazing sauce.

Not much left.... Seems like I didn't stop to take a pic during 'production'

DaHorns-
Yeah, I've not stuck my head in here for a few weeks. Been very busy with life and all. Not much cooking/smoking done either. I apologize for the crappy pic of 'leftovers'. I got into a routine of building the jeep burgers and serving them up along with the other stuff and just forgot about taking "THE" picture of a completed one. The n00bs are probably wondering what the hell a Jeep Burger is and why there's a pic of just a little grill over charcoal. That's what the Search function is for.

Hockey Dad-
It's a lot of fun 'toys' to play with. Our club has really grown in the past few years and we are beginning to amass a lot of nice vehicles. We run the range from armor, to heavy transport, jeeps to bicycles at this time. More of our stuff can be seen at www.lonestar-mvpa.org

m381...

I was working one day near Stockton Ca airport. Loading up a flatbed. A plane flew over myself and the driver and he just kinda tipped his hat towards it and told me I was looking at a piece of American History. It was a B-25 Mitchell (I think thats what he called it) He told me theres less than 6 in the world that are in working condition. I guess the one we saw that day is owned by some wealthy farmer around our part of cali.

My question is..
Is that true about the amount that still exist?

Good question.
Actually, there's a good number of them still in flying condition. We have two right here in Central Tejas. For more information on the status of post-war B-25's, here's a good link: http://www.aerovintage.com/b25list.htm

We get up to the Patton Tank Museum up in Fort Knox from time to time. The kids LOVE it. (Their dad loves it too.) The first time I went..it gave me chills. Not just because as a kid I was OBSESSED with WWII armor; but they actually have Patton's command truck..and the REAL maps he draw on when planning his campaigns. Truly awesome. They have hundreds of tanks there..Panthers and Tigers and Stuarts and Shermans and and..and.. WWII vehicles are still amazing to me. I must have built about 100 Tamiya model tanks as a kid and about 50 aircraft.

OK, I better stop right here before I get REALLY going on this. ;)

Thats it! (You might have to turn the volume down..the kid narrating this is pretty annoying..can't keep a camera straight either)

Glad you liked 'em..... BigWheels PigStickBacon is one of the 'secret's that make them special. Well, that and colby-jack cheese, raspberry-chipotle glazing (or the mango-ginger-hab), or the montreal seasoning, or Bills rub, or the wooster. Hmmmmmm...... could be a lot of things.
