I've been craving some good ole pulled pork sammiches lately, SO I headed up to HEB yesterday and picked up a couple butts and preped them up yesterday night before bed. Gave them a mustard slather with some TX BBQ Rub Original. Then this morning I injected them with Chris Lilly's injection recipe before they went on at 6a. Right now they are at about 170* and are looking GOOD!!! Can't wait for dinner, got some cole slaw and some of my mom's homemade potato salad. We took a pic of one of the butts on the pit for an up to date deal........MMMmmmmmmmm!!!!!

Hey Horns, did you check out the brisket while you were at HEB? I just got back from the one by my house and they had choice for .97 a pound, no limit or additional purchase. I picked up 2 nice ones under 10 pounds.

Here is the finished product, and I must say that it was mighty GOOD!!!!


I will have to check out the brisket prices tomorrow, the last time they were on sale like that down there they didn't know anything about it up here.......I tried to get them to match it, but it was a no go.......:(

Really good looking butt you have there:D . You made mention of Chris Lillies injection you used on the butt.

I am getting ready to do a large cook for a party, and am not happy with the taste I get from apple juice. Could you show the recipe for the injection you used?

Nice looking sammies.....

I'm curious on the pulling part. Do you prefer the long 'strings' over a more fine pulling or is that the way this one just turned out? All of mine have never given me that long of a pc of meat.

Q Harley-I'll be happy to share the injection recipe with y'all, I will put it in the recipe section tonight. Its good stuff!!!

M38-When I was in Little Rock my bro took me to a old hole in the wall known for thier pulled pork, they had the long "strings" piled about 3-4" high on a monster bun, topped with thier sauce. I love it like that, big mouthful of tasty pulled pork.......;) Scott if your bored this weekend I'm doing a unsanctioned cookoff in Round Rock at the American Legion. Stop by if you want, that goes for anyone of y'all that are around!!!
