Hello....Is "Texas Wild" a spicy version of the original rub? Can't find a description anywhere on the web site. Thanks much....

No, it's not more spicy verison of TexasBBQRub. It was really designed and intended to be a wild game rub, we tested it out on stuff like Bison.

We unveiled it for QFest for about 30 guys on the forum, and we started playing and putting it on everything. And it actually does pretty good on ribs too.

We'll have a explanation of TexasWild hopefully in a few days, as well as new combo items that allow TexasWild.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. Which has more chili powder the original rub or Texas wild? Sometimes the original is slightly too hot for our friends with sensitive stomachs. Would Texas Wild rub be better for them?

It is a bit "less spicy" than the Original, but altogether, it has a different taste.I

f you still want to have the Original TexasBBQRub taste, but want it to be a little less spicy, you can do what some people do; which is "cutting" the rub. To cut the rub, you take the rub, and add bakers brown sugar to it, which dilutes the rub down a bit.

Thanks,

About to make an order for the original. Can you describe the taste of the Wild Version? i.e. types of herbs in the wild version.

Thanks a bunch.

OK let me give you some details on the Texas Wild and we will be adding this description to the web site in the next couple of days.

As Blake stated we have been working on a "Wild Game" rub/spice for sometime and when we got what we wanted we took some to QFest in November of 2006. We tried it on bison, coon, venison, then put it on pork ribs, brisket, standing rib roast, pork loins, and whatever else we had there to cook. Everyone that tried the rub at QFest loved the taste of the Texas Wild on everything we ate (we did all agree that coon should never be smoked, but that had nothing to do with the rub just the animal). They asked us what the name of the new rub was going to be and we told them Texas Wild Game Rub. They all agreed and convinced us to drop the "Game" from the name as it was really good on all the meats we cooked for them. So we just shortened the name to "Texas Wild". It is wild on flavor.

The taste is somewhere between the original rub and the brisket blend. It is not as spicy as the original rub but it is sweeter than the brisket rub. It contains some large pieces of spices as does the brisket blend but again it is sweeter than the brisket blend to the taste.

We have had some BBQ Cooking teams use the "Wild" in competition and have done well using it on ribs, brisket, and chicken. It is just another taste that does really well on all meats.

I hope this helps and again we will get something on the website soon to describe the taste as we have had alot of inquiries to what it is all about.

Thanks Bill, tell you what if you could get Blake to put on the web site description a "scratch and sniff" and a "lick and taste" that would be really helpful...:D

So sounds like Texas Wild may be the perfect rub for those wanting a little less heat but still the flavor and don't mind sugar.

Does that seem right?

I have used "Wild" on everything I have cooked since it came out, brisket, ribs, pork loin, standing rib roast, etc and have found it to be spectacular. That is my personal favorite right now.......

For me, Wild is a 'do it all' product. It goes with everything I've tried it with and provides excellent results.

Flavor? Not near as pepper-hot as the original. I tend to lean in the onion/garlic/sweet camp if I had to describe it.

I will say this - you cannot go wrong with purchase of this product and following the tips and tricks provided on this forum. We've all been there and said it many time so take heed...... Your WORST day cooking with these and the other host products with our methods will most probably be better than any commercial 'que you will eat.

Now, off to order some more Wild...... Oh Billlllllll...........

Done ribs on the Gator this weekend. Used the Texas wild on one slab and the Original on the other.

No left overs on the Wild. Half of a slab of the Original. I personaly liked the wild better. I used apple pepper jelly on the Wild and pinapple on the Original.

But, both slabs were outstanding. Wouldn't trade either the rub or the jelly for anything.

OK Bill, no more bring coon to Qfest,.! I thought it was great myself. I'll do ya one better dis year my friend:wink:

I use Texas "WOW" on my brisket and bacon wrapped backstrap at comps. Works best on big cuts of beef & game. I've used it on ribs around da house and I find it keep them real moist. Keeps a paste like texture on ribs throughout the cook. No need to spray. It is a good taste on ribs but no match to the taste of #1:wink:
It's going to be hard the beat the taste of da Original. Hands down, 20 to 1 in my book:D
That's about all I can tell ya....Texana's listening I'm sure:lol:

Hey Bolo ... where the heck you been brother ??

Been busy at work, building my brother turbocharged S2000, and finally turbocharging my Yukon XL. =) Finally finish most of the projects for now. Now I can get back on the pit and have some fun. How's business doing for ya? Ritch doesnt talk to me anymore since he is a millionaire. =) I have to buy another Gator Pit to get a response from him.
