The best type of ribs are free ribs.
J/k
Pork spares are the usual favorite for bbq, followed by baby backs, with beef ribs trailing at a distant third.
If you aren't using Texas Pepper Jelly when you smoke your ribs, you are missing out. Get a jar of TPJ Pineapple Habanero jelly and use it to glaze your ribs during the last hour of the cook. It melts into a spicy/sweet glaze that really compliments the flavor of the meat.

It's a preference......sum luv pork ribs.....sum luv beef ribs......sum luv baby backs.....sum luv spares.....ain't no "best kind" when it comes ta ribs.
Baby backs are more eggspensive than tha spares an sum peeple swear by them. If I cood find "good" beef ribs round heer, they wood be my main choice fer ribs......but they are hard ta find, so I go with tha pork spares.....there's more meat on tha spares than tha baby backs, so ya git more for yer money.:D

I like the spares, more meaty than baby backs. More forgiving than babies as well. Now beef are good too, but everything I have seen over the past 1-2 months are pretty thin on the meat. I'd go with spares, if I were choosing.

I like spares too. Me and babies don't get along, just can't seem make 'em work. I like beef ribs, but all we have around are shiners.

Guess I got to vote for spares too. Love good beef ribs but as several have said they scarce as hen's teeth. I leave the baby/loin backs for the yups. Dont wont to cause any shortages amongst the nerds ya know? Could start a revolt.

I'm with the guys that most like beef ribs but can't find any worth a flip. After that, I go for spares.
