I'm looking for a good storage canister that can hold a whole bag of rub. Extra points if I can just shake the rub straight from the canister onto the meat. What do you guys use?

Ball brand wide mouth mason jar for the opened bags. Small cooler for the unopened ones.

I ordered mine from here (http://www.spicebarn.com/)

I asked Bill not to attach the labels to the bags the next time I ordered and then just put the label onto the containers.

The whole bag did not fit into mine, but I just vac sealed it up until I need to refill. (I did not buy the quart size though)

I'm assuming these are the ones you're talking about
http://spicebarn.com/32_ounce_plastic_spice_jars.htm

How's the seal on those things? Pretty airtight?

I buy containers from these guys: http://www.freundcontainer.com
They have anything and everything you would need for containers including sauce containers, spice shakers etc. Plus there prices Rock:wink:

I ended up buying 16 oz (http://spicebarn.com/16_ounce_plastic_spice_jars.htm), but those you selected would be better as they are quart size.

I have no problem the seal and leaking...a couple shakes and all the rub breaks right up.

And btw...the cap does just flip open and you shake right out of it.

Gallon size freezer zip loc bags work great, stick your hand in pull out what you need or tilt bag and sprinkle.

I close the bags with chip bag clips and store them in a coffee can in the refridgerator. Also keep some in a shaker bottle to sprinkle on just about everything. Just tried some Texas Wild on scrambled eggs. Quite tasty.

empty grated cheese containers work well for me storing rubs. And the lid makes it easy to shake out what you need

I just roll the open bag up tight, wrap a rubberband around it and then just to be sure, stick it in a tupperware container.

This looks like a good web site for bottles. I have not used them but I have talked to them and they seem like real nice folks.

Just got 2-2 pound bags today. I open one and pour the rub into a tupperware container, using it as I need it. I was wondering if I could freeze the other unopened bag? Thanks,

Ya"ll I took the economical way out. A friend of mine had a coupla large empty jars that had some crab boil in. I just washed them out real good, dried them, & put a bag of each rub into each one. It works like a champ. Oh I may have to shake it up before I start using the rub because of the humidity factor, but, it works quite well.

Found some old Tupperware containers at the Goodwill store for next to nothing...bought a couple that will hold around 4lbs. of rub...works good, seals tight....
