Bob Phillips from "Texas Country Reporter" has just posted this video on Youtube. My son and I were there last month having the "family style" plate: all the brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken you can eat! Nothin' better than great BBQ and some Gospel music on the side!

There was a thread sometime ago about Holy Smoke. I've never been there but I hear it's a great place. If I remember correctly, it's only open one day a week and there are cars parked up and down the highway. I am going to have to make it up that way and give them a try.

Been there many a time. It's just up the road from me. Ms. Annie is quite a character. They used to have an all-you-could eat deal for $7.99 (some years back, not sure of the price now)...they bring out a platter of brisket, sausage and ribs with side fixins...if you finish the platter the 2nd one is your choice. I usually go for ALL ribs. Man that place makes some mean ribs.

Went there a few moths ago. Not to bad but lots of sauce poured on Q.
ZZ-Gator, Tee & me went to a cook-off at the Huntsville Elks Lodge just around da corner.

Zee, you cooked up all that award winning Que, then you go to where they drown the Q in sauce?
Been by there a couple of times when I lived up in Willis, was not bad, they use to really make a killing years ago when the prison rodeo was still going on, there would be traffic all over the place trying to park and get in there.

Now if you really wanted some good slow smoked Que in that area, you'd go to Early's BBQ outside of Willis out towards Lake Conroe on a dead end road. Old black gentleman named Earl who built his fire on the ground and just used the coals for his ribs and chicken, the briskets were smoked on a low ciderblock pit, the beer iced down in large tubs...ya had to know where it was cause he didn't advertise, only open Sat and Sundays, but in the late afternoon/evenings in summer you couldn't stir the people with a stick. Had to request sauce if you wanted some, then it came in a cup on the side.

Wondered if they were still around. That was a great place to eat at back when I was in college and family came to visit. Some times some of my profs would take a group of us and it was fantastic.

Yea you right Santa. We like to hit some Q spots we hear about when we on the trail. Check them off the list, been there & done that kinda thing.
We went kinda late in the afternoon and I think the sauce was poured on to help out the meat that was cooked in the morning. I shoulda asked for no sause but I got plate before I knew it.

Best place I found so far was a place called the "Station". Old gas station converted into Q joint. Pick-up only, no sit down & eat tables. It was just off 45 in Clevland best I can remember. I know iy was on 105 I think.

Next time we up that way you can take Tee & me over to your secret spot in Willis.

Would love to Z, definitely was a place to experience. Either a jumping Saturday evening or a nice n' slow Sunday afternoon would've been to your likin' but sadly the old gentleman died several years back.
