Mostly, I use Texas Wild (lots more for your money AND great flavor) or John Henry's Pecan rub (expensive but good).

I coat it with French's Mustard and then rub it with a mixture of paprika, brown and white sugar, pepper, salt, dry mustard, and cayenne to which I'll sometimes add cumin, and chili powder. I'll sometimes substiture a coarse sugar e.g. turbinado sugar for the brown and white sugar. All this is done the day before I plan to cook.
When I take the meat from the fridge, I recoat it and put it directly in the smoker. This works well with a wood smoker. If you are using charcoal and wood chips, I can't say how it will come out.

Ahh Half...too fast for me!
I did some butts and chicken yesterday on the WSM and used the Brisket Blend with them, wanted a little more herbaceousness with the pork, just for a change of pace. The TBR family of rubs are awesome though, beautiful bark and color.

TBR Wild. I was going to say Boudreau's Butt Rub, but then I saw you specified pork butts.

I've used Wild a few times but like the original Texas BBQ Rub better It has just a bit more flavor on butts to me. :)

Wild, mostly. Sometimes, I use a bit more TxBBQR Original. I also use a couple of my own concoctions from time to time.

 I slather with the cheapest yellow mustard I can find and then a healthy coating of TBR Brisket Blend...I can't imagine it getting any better than that. I have had grown men weep after eating my pulled pork....LOL

I use my own blend of brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, paprika, coarse sea salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, cayanne, and cilantro.
I have only done pork butts once, but they came out pretty good.
A buddy that does alot of catering of pork bbq tasted mine and really liked it.
Pulled/shredded pork is king in VA, so if you cook here, you end up having to learn it.
