Guys, What is a good bread knife recommendation?
We are still using a worn out bright orange handled ginsue (sp?) we got 24yrs ago from a vendor at a state fair. We were newly weds at the time and I went all out and got her something nice.
However it is time to upgrade (knife not wife as she still has a a bunch of good yrs left on her).
Any bread knife recommendations??

Steve, a wide blade, serrated edge knife is the best to use to slice breads, rolls, bagels, etc. I've got both a Messermiester and a Henckels. Doesn't have to be an expensive brand though, there are good knives out there that won't cost a bunch and will do the same thing. Main thing is to get one that fits your hand comfortably, not a slippery handle, and feels balanced when lifted, but also has just a little heft to it.
If you're going to be buying it for both you and your wife to use take her along when you go knife hunting so you can get one that you both like the feel of. Nothing worse that buying something that doesn't get used. Check with the Jellyman he'll have some for you choose from...Hope this helps ya...
Well, I see he got his posted just ahead of me....so Never mind!

Here's the one I have, it's scalloped not serrated so you can sharpen it normally.

Hey, there. Show her how much she means to you! Take that one out and get it sharpened.

Or, you could check the TPJ site.
And, check out Forschner. I have a couple of their knives and I'll buy nothing but theirs in the future.
