Hello fellas, first time threading.

Been trying to find a source for above brand of lump with not much luck. Have been known to splurge on shipping costs just to satisfy a flighty whim, like the time I got a box of guava wood from Hawaii. Hey, it's only Rock and Roll--!!

Anybody got anything?

B & B Oak Lump is now sold at Wallmart & is a good/ok chioce for a local - you can order in some comp. charcoals - but it's not cost efective.

(I used to order in - Maple Leaf Lump Charcoal = it smells GREAT while burning/cooking)

Thanks Fred:

The local Walmart here stocks Royal Oak (made in USA) lump, which is really top quality, reasonably priced($5.27=10 pds.), but I love to cook the beef on mesquite. Best I've found so far was Lazzari, which costs me mucho to get to SC. Naked Whiz rates Nature"s Mesquite pretty high, so my curiosity has grabbed ahold of me again.

Thanks again.

Best deal in town is to order your charcoal from one of the big whole grocery distributing companies in your area. I get some called Chef's Choice or something similar. It some large caliber Mexico Mesquite stuff (looks just like Lazzari) which comes in 40 lb bags usual cost twixt 11 and 13 bucks. Works good on a big pit..not worth a caca on smaller cookers. Big wholesalers around here who carry it are Sysco Foods and Ben E. Keith.
Burns nice and slow and hot.

Ace Hardware sells Cowboy Brand lump charcoal. It works good for me. Here is their web site.

Many thanks, Mr. Mac. Texas-mesquite.com looks like the place I want to try. Can get Best of the West locally at $5.95 a 6.6 pd. bag, but I ain't crazy about the quality. Nature's Mesquite is tough to find., since WinnDixie went out around here. Thanks again. :)

Thanks, BigWheel, will try to hook up with Sysco. I think they run here on the coast. Not afraid of that big lump caca. Just take out my wee pen knife and start whittlin ! :D
