Market for Oak??
Just joined a couple days ago and have been browsing the site which brought to mind an idea i have been kicking around.
Here in colorado wood comes at a premium for stick burners. Recently I purchased our family farm in Oklahoma so if I can ever retire in this life it will be there.
Its 200 acres, with around 100 acres wooded. I have blackjack and post oak all over the place and need to thin a lot out so as to take care of the property. I also have some pecan. I was thinking of cutting out the 5-6 inch and smaller logs. let them dry inside the barn and shed I have to cure it some. I'm entertaining building a metal storage building wherein can also be stored inside,
Is there a market for this? I'm not really looking to make a killing on any of it but the bean counter says that we need to try and make some monies somewhere down the line anyway we can. I can never believe what people including myself have had to pay in stores for chunk wood, pretty much robbery.
Again just wondered it there is market for selling some of this on small scale basis like shipping 50 pound and smaller bags or so.
