Think he say..the rulebook say..a 5 pounder cooked at 8.5 mins per lb at a grease temp of 350. Should have a nice crunchy exterior at the least. That is a long time to bounce around in hot grease. I tried to talk him into
slicing it up and frying the resulting country style ribs but he didnt want to hear that. He got a yankee brother in law supposed to have done the butt hole..with good results..blah blah blah. Whatcha think?

I think I will stick with the slow smoked method.

Sounds like a good plan to me too. Course the warden done banned me from any exotic deep frying chores when I nearly burnt the house down a few years back trying to fry a Turkey. Now when I really put my foot down she will let me fry catfish and hushpuppies on special occasions in the summer. Otherwise we get a hankering for them fried delicacies...Catfish and Company just about a 1.5 beer drive away. Course the warden dont hold with consumption of the devils urine..so she always the designated driver wheel man/woman or whutever they call it. For tonight she is buying me some thin crust..supreme daddy o Pizzer which Pizzer Hut has to offer. Plust I tole her to add japs and anchovies..but doubt I see that on there. Sure enough I just ate it and there wasnt a jap or anchovie in sight. Sure was tasty though. They deliver right to your house ya know?

I'll wait and see on this. Low and slow for pork butts till someone proves otherwise...

A frined of mine tried that at a company cook after doing the turkey. He was just trying it for the fun of it. Didn't do too well. I even tried some and didn't care for it. He's smoked 'em ever since.

Now that's something i wouldn't even try.Barely find them edible BBQ'd,
well maybe with that simple north carolina piedmont sauce on em.
and even then i need to add a garlic clove or 2 to my simple sauce, now if i see anyone putting coleslaw on top of pulled and then a bun, well i turn away, cuz i can't look.
